Who We Are
The Norman Coalition for Refugee Support (NCRS) is an all-volunteer, interfaith, non-profit organization and a coalition of houses of worship, friends, and partners collaborating to resettle refugees and asylum-seekers in Norman.
Originating at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in 2017, the NCRS now has contributions from this coalition of local houses of worship in Norman, OK:

First Christian Church of Norman
Fist Congregational Church of Norman, UCC
First Presbyterian Church
McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church
St. Michael’s Episcopal Church
St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church
University Lutheran Church and Student Center
The Mission of the NCRS is to provide refugees and asylum-seekers with support in resettlement and help them find safe homes and guide them in a culturally appropriate way to be thriving and self-sufficient residents of the Norman community.
With the participation of seven houses of worship and many individual volunteers, the NCRS remains focused on providing refugees and asylum-seekers with “wrap-around” support in resettlement to help them become self-sufficient. Daily operations are conducted by volunteer teams.
The NCRS regularly works with The Spero Project and Catholic Charities in the reception and placement of refugees in Norman. The NCRS also assists selected independent refugees and other asylum-seekers not associated with The Spero Project or Catholic Charities but who are granted Visas or border passes and ensure they are legally documented.
The NCRS operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The NCRS was awarded the 2021 City of Norman, OK Human Rights Award and has been designated a “Welcoming Organization” by the Accompanying Migrant Minors with Protection, Advocacy, Representation, and Opportunities network (AMMPARO) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
